Custom Widgets for Learning & Development

One of the most impactful custom builds we've delivered on Unily was a suite of L&D widgets for an enterprise client. The standard Unily components didn't support the level of learning pathway tracking and personalised course recommendations they needed - so we built them from scratch.

These widgets connected to the client's LMS via API, pulled individual learning data, and presented it in a personalised dashboard within Unily. Employees could see their assigned courses, track completion progress, discover recommended content based on their role, and access everything without leaving the platform.

Personal Learning Dashboard

Each employee sees their assigned courses, completion status, upcoming deadlines and certificates earned - all within a single Unily widget. Data pulled in real-time from the LMS API.

Role-Based Course Recommendations

Courses surfaced based on the employee's job role, department and career level. Connected to Workday profile data so recommendations update automatically when someone changes role.

Manager Completion Dashboard

Line managers see a team-level view of training completion rates, overdue courses and compliance status. No more chasing HR for reports - the data is live on the platform.

Can you take over Unily support from our previous partner?

Yes - this is a common scenario. We start with a thorough review of your Unily environment to understand the configuration, integrations, custom widgets and any outstanding issues. We document everything and build a knowledge base so support isn't dependent on any one person. There's typically a 2-3 week onboarding period before we're fully up to speed.

How does retained Unily support work?

We agree a set number of hours per month depending on your platform size, business needs and complexity. Those hours flex between reactive support (fixing issues, content help) and proactive development (new widgets, integrations, improvements). You get a certified Unily specialist without the cost of a full-time hire.

Can you build custom Unily widgets?

Yes. We build custom widgets that extend Unily beyond its out-of-the-box functionality. Examples include L&D tracking dashboards, interactive people directories, data-driven content feeds, survey and feedback tools, and widgets that pull data from external APIs. If you can describe what you need, we can most likely build it.

Can Unily integrate with Workday?

Yes - we've delivered this integration for an enterprise client. Workday employee profiles, org structure, job roles, department data and new starter information can all sync into Unily automatically. This keeps your people directory, audience targeting and content personalisation accurate without manual data entry. The integration runs on a scheduled sync with incremental updates.

Can Unily integrate with Slack?

Yes. We've built Slack integrations that surface Unily content and notifications directly in Slack channels. This is particularly useful for organisations where Slack is the primary collaboration tool - employees see important platform content in their Slack workflow without needing to visit Unily separately. It works both ways: actions in Slack can trigger updates in Unily.

Our adoption is low - can you help?

Yes. Low adoption usually comes down to one or more of: poor information architecture (people can't find things), lack of fresh content (the platform feels stale), no personalisation (everything looks the same for everyone), or the platform isn't integrated into daily workflows. We diagnose the root cause using Unily's analytics, then build a practical improvement plan - typically quick wins first to show momentum, then structural changes.

Should we stay on Unily or move to SharePoint?

It depends on your requirements and budget. Unily excels at employee experience features - personalisation, multi-channel publishing, analytics and engagement tools that go beyond what SharePoint offers natively. If those features matter to your organisation, Unily is worth the investment. If you're primarily using it as a document repository and news feed, SharePoint Online with some custom SPFx web parts might deliver what you need at a lower cost. We work with both platforms and can give you an honest assessment.
