Scrolling Notice

A horizontal ticker for the updates that don't deserve a news article. Social events, canteen menus, building notices, IT reminders. Managed through a SharePoint list so anyone on your intranet team can post a notice in seconds.

The Problem

Not everything deserves a news article. The cake in the kitchen, Friday's charity drive, the car park closure on Thursday - these short updates either fill people's inboxes or never get shared at all. Your intranet has no lightweight channel for the small-but-useful stuff.

The Solution

Scrolling Notice gives your intranet a visual ticker for short announcements. Managed through a SharePoint list - anyone with permission can post in seconds. Set start and end dates and notices disappear automatically when they're no longer relevant.

What You Get

A lightweight announcement channel that your intranet team can maintain without tickets.

Smooth Scrolling Animation

Horizontal ticker with configurable speed. Pauses on hover so users can read without chasing the text across the screen.

SharePoint List Backend

Notices live in a standard SharePoint list. Add a row, it appears. Delete a row, it's gone. No page edits, no deployments.

Optional Links

Each notice can link to a page, document or external URL for users who want more detail. Leave the link field blank for text-only notices.

Configurable Display

Control scroll speed, direction, number of visible items and text styling through the property pane. No code to change how it looks.

Date-Based Visibility

Set start and end dates and notices appear and disappear automatically. No manual cleanup, no stale announcements about last month's event.

Theme-Aware and Responsive

Inherits your SharePoint site theme and adapts to any screen size. Works on desktop, tablet, mobile and Teams tabs.

Questions About Scrolling Notice

Can we control the scroll speed?

Yes. Scroll speed is configurable through the property pane. Pauses on hover by default so users can read individual notices without chasing the text across the screen.

How is this different from Important Message?

Important Message is for urgent tenant-wide alerts - system outages, emergencies, critical announcements - and appears on every page in the tenant. Scrolling Notice is lighter weight: for friendly updates and event notices on a specific intranet page. Use both together - one for alerts, one for everyday chatter.

Who can add notices?

Anyone with edit permission on the underlying SharePoint list. Typically that's your intranet team, internal comms or individual department owners. You control access through standard SharePoint permissions - no separate admin tool to manage.

Does it support rich text or images?

Scrolling Notice is designed for short, plain text messages - typically one or two sentences with an optional link. If you need rich content or imagery, use News Carousel Pro for full news articles or Important Message for formatted alerts.

Does it work in Microsoft Teams?

Yes. When a SharePoint page is embedded as a tab in Teams, Scrolling Notice renders and scrolls correctly. Touch-friendly on mobile Teams too.
